CONCORD – Today, following Governor Sununu’s budget address, Senator Lou D’Allesandro (D-Manchester) and Representative Mary Jane Wallner (D-Concord) issued the following statement:
“Democrats and Republicans in the legislature have worked hard over the past decade to restore the balance in the state's savings account to stabilize New Hampshire’s bond ratings following the Great Recession. High bond ratings save the state millions in borrowing costs. Governor Sununu’s plan to take nearly $30 million from the Rainy Day fund this June with no plan to replace the funds is fiscally questionable and potentially risks the state’s bond ratings. We would strongly urge the Governor to rethink his support of such a risky move while the state's economy is still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.”
