CONCORD – Today, the Senate voted Ought to Pass with Amendment on SB 404, Senator Becky Whitley’s (D-Hopkinton) bill to establish a supplemental nutrition assistance program outreach program. The bill passed on a voice vote and will next be sent to the House for a public committee hearing.
Prime sponsor Senator Becky Whitley (D-Hopkinton) issued the following statement after the vote:
“Here in New Hampshire, 17,000 children who were eligible for the supplemental nutritional assistance program (SNAP) were not receiving aid in 2019, as well as tens of thousands of adults who were likely eligible but not enrolled. By making real, targeted efforts to enroll those 17,000 children, New Hampshire could receive an additional $37.9 million in federally-funded aid to support Granite State families and the economy. SB 404 is a win for our children, our families, and our economy. I thank my colleagues for their support and look forward to working with the House to pass this important legislation.”
