CONCORD – Today, Senator Jay Kahn (D-Keene) introduced SB 88, adopting omnibus legislation relative to broadband. SB 88 expands upon HB 1111 of last year, which unanimously passed the Senate.
After the hearing, Senator Jay Kahn (D-Keene) issued the following statement:
“SB 88 builds on the critical work we’ve done since 2018 to expand access to broadband across New Hampshire, especially to our more rural under- and un-served areas. Among other things, SB 88 accelerates the timeline in which cities and towns may establish communications district planning committees, which will allow stakeholders working to expand broadband access to get to work more quickly planning projects and to gain pole access rights. The need for dependable access to high-speed Internet has become only more evident during this public health crisis, and this legislation will support our education system, our state’s workforce, telehealth services, and critical connectivity for all Granite Staters, regardless of their zip code.”
