CONCORD – Today, Senator Kahn introduced SB 351, relative to annual performance and financial reporting by private and religious schools that receive public funds, to the Senate Education Committee. If enacted, SB 351 would require the department of education to annually make available on its website performance measures and financial accounting reports for all private and religious schools receiving public funds from the state or through education freedom accounts (EFA) under RSA 194-F.
After the hearing, prime sponsor Senator Kahn (D-Keene) issued the following statement:
“This is an accountability and transparency bill to provide consumer information to private and religious school families. Every year, New Hampshire’s public and public charter schools provide the Department of Education with comprehensive financial and student performance reporting. SB 351 extends a streamlined requirement to private and religious schools that receive public funds through the school voucher program passed in the last state budget. This reporting is essential for both the state and for taxpayers to understand how their public dollars are being spent.”
