CONCORD – Today, Senator Jay Kahn (D-Keene) introduced SB 236, establishing a committee to study New Hampshire teacher shortages and recruitment incentives, to the Senate Education Committee.
After the hearing, prime sponsor Senator Jay Kahn (D-Keene) issued the following statement:
“New Hampshire faced teacher shortages prior to the COVID-19 pandemic that have only been exacerbated by the events of the past two years. Similar efforts have already been undertaken in 20 other states and represent a real effort to determine strategies to mitigate shortages and alleviate the pressures placed on students, our teachers, and administrators when inadequate staff are available. I am proud to bring this bill before the Senate Education Committee and look forward to working with my colleagues to move this important issue forward.”
