CONCORD – Today, Senator Lou D’Allesandro (D-Manchester) introduced SB 118, the Property Tax Relief Act of 2021, to the Senate Finance Committee. SB 118 appropriates $40 million to the state treasurer for the purpose of providing municipal aid grants to New Hampshire’s cities and towns, at least 60% of which must be used for local property tax reductions.
After the hearing, prime sponsor Senator Lou D’Allesandro (D-Manchester) issued the following statement:
“In the last biennium, Senate Democrats fought for a fair budget that worked in favor of all Granite Staters - including $40 million in unrestricted revenue redistribution to our towns and cities to protect property taxpayers. The Property Tax Relief Act of 2021 builds on that progress by specifically directing at least 60% of this next round of funding to local property tax reductions. I urge my colleagues to support SB 118 and provide New Hampshire property tax payers with the relief they so desperately need.”
