CONCORD – Yesterday, Senate Republicans spent $10 million to bail out private citizens who made a bad investment ten years ago.
Deputy Senate Democratic Leader Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) issued the following statement in response:
“While I feel terrible for the individuals who suffered as a result of the FRM scandal, I find it alarming that my Republican colleagues think it is fiscally prudent to use taxpayer dollars to provide a handout to a small group of individuals. When someone makes a bad investment, it is unfortunate and often devastating. However, individuals are free to invest their money as they see fit, and are responsible for how they handle those finances. Many Granite Staters are struggling financially right now. We have a tremendous homelessness problem, un-funded family planning centers, and families in danger of losing their homes. Now more than ever, when so many are struggling, I find it outrageous that we would publicly fund a handout to a small group of investors.”
