CONCORD - Today, Senate Republicans voted against an amendment from Senator Becky Whitley (D-Hopkinton) to appropriate about $8.5 million per year of federal ARPA funds to bring the child care scholarship line item up to the FY21 level.
After the vote, Senator Becky Whitley (D-Hopkinton) issued the following statement:
“The COVID-19 pandemic has laid bare the deep inequities in the Granite State we already knew existed – including unequal access to quality, affordable, and safe child care. The amendment I brought forward today would have allocated federal ARPA funds in order to help ensure access to quality, affordable, and safe child care for the families who need it the most. Getting New Hampshire’s working families back to work through the availability of safe and affordable child care should be a bipartisan priority and I am disappointed that my Republican colleagues disagree.”
