CONCORD – Today, in a party line vote of 14-10, Senate Republicans rushed the passage of HB 242, relative to the content of an adequate education.

After the vote, Senator Jay Kahn (D-Keene) issued the following statement:

“There is no reason HB 242 needed to be rushed through the Senate today. Despite the rhetoric of my Republican colleagues today stating otherwise, the legislature should be working in tandem with the Department of Education as they are currently developing a more comprehensive process to review the consistency of adequate education statutes and rules. Not only that, HB 242 is incongruent with our current laws defining an adequate education. I am disappointed that my Republican colleagues felt the need to move out in front of the more thorough process being undertaken by the Dept. of Education.”
