CONCORD - Today, the Senate unanimously passed SB 459-FN, relative to a health care facility workplace violence prevention program. The bill next goes to the House for a public committee hearing.
After the vote, SB 459-FN co-sponsors Senator Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) and Senator Tom Sherman (D-Rye) issued the following statement:
“The issue of violence in health care workplaces must be addressed urgently. Incidents are on the rise, patients are struggling with serious physical and mental health needs, and staff safety must be improved. That is why SB 459 is so important. This bill carefully addresses the increase in violence, the very real need to protect our health care workers, and considers the needs of our mental health patients. We would like to thank Senator Gray for his work to develop this language with the study committee and all of the stakeholders who came together to craft legislation that moves New Hampshire in the right direction on this critical issue.”
