CONCORD – Senate Democratic Leader Donna Soucy (D-Manchester) and Senator David Watters (D-Dover) issued the following statement in honor of the first day of Black History Month:

“Every February, we honor Black History Month and the achievements, history, and challenges of the Black community. As we recognize the progress that has been made, as elected officials it is our job to ensure that progress continues to move forward. That means supporting the right to freely discuss our nation’s history, creating new pathways for small business owners to thrive in the New Hampshire economy, and instituting policies that respect the posthumous rights of those born during the period of American enslavement. This month, we celebrate Black history and take the time to reflect on where this nation has been, and what each and every one of us can do to bring forward a better future.”
