CONCORD – Earlier today, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced that Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE) will receive $500,000 through a Title X Dire Need Grant award. This critical funding was secured thanks to the NH Congressional Delegation pushing for this funding at the federal level. The need for this funding has become increasingly critical as reproductive rights are imperiled in New Hampshire with the Executive Council repeatedly failing to meet the needs of family planning providers, rejecting critical funding for these providers 3 times in the past 5 months.
Senate Democratic Leader Donna Soucy (D-Manchester) issued the following statement:
“I am tremendously grateful to our Congressional Delegation for exhibiting real leadership and doing what Republicans on the Executive Council have repeatedly failed to do: prioritize the health and wellbeing of the people we all represent. Planned Parenthood has been a life-saving resource for thousands of Granite Staters, providing health care services ranging from cancer screenings to reproductive health care and maternal health. At a time when women’s reproductive rights are under attack by the Republicans, the support and services they provide are needed now more than ever.”
