CONCORD - Today, the Senate Commerce Committee unanimously voted Ought to Pass with Amendment on HB 593 which requires a food delivery service to enter into an agreement with a food service establishment or food retail store before offering delivery service from that restaurant.
After the vote, Senator Kevin Cavanaugh (D-Manchester) issued the following statement:
“Our local restaurants have been serving our communities and stimulating our local economies through unprecedented circumstances for over a year. When a third-party offers delivery service without the consent of the restaurant they unnecessarily put the restaurant’s reputation at risk, create an illusion of price gouging, and develop a false relationship between the small business and the customer. I would like to thank the sponsors for bringing forward this important, pro-small business legislation.”
