CONCORD – Yesterday, Governor Chris Sununu signed SB 88 into law. SB 88 is a piece of omnibus legislation relative to broadband, and builds upon the past bipartisan work in the Senate to increase and improve access to broadband in New Hampshire.

Prime Sponsor Senator Jay Kahn (D-Keene) issued the following statement:

“SB 88 builds on the bipartisan work the Senate has done since 2018 to expand access to broadband across the state, with a particular focus on our more rural areas where access is spotty or unavailable altogether. This legislation will accelerates the timeline in which cities and towns can establish communications district planning committees, which will speed up the process for broadband stakeholders working toward broadband expansion to begin their work, including planning projects and gaining pole access rights. Expanding broadband access is a key priority for New Hampshire, highlighted by the challenges of the last year for adequate, reliable access. This is an important win for Granite Staters as we work to rebuild and strengthen our workforce, support our education system, continue to enable telehealth services, and enrich the lives of all New Hampshire residents.”
