CONCORD – Today, after a unanimous vote of Ought to Pass, the Senate laid SB 157 on the table in order to discuss the measure as a part of the budget process. SB 157, prime sponsored by Senator Becky Whitley (D-Hopkinton), extends a prior appropriation to DHHS for child behavioral health services, requires that the New Hampshire 10-year mental health plan include a report on implementation, relative to child welfare, and establishes funded positions in the DHHS contracts and procurement unit.
After the vote, prime sponsor Senator Becky Whitley (D-Hopkinton) issued the following statement:
“Just yesterday 40 adults and 29 children were waiting in emergency rooms across the state for services. The mental health epidemic has only been exacerbated by the pandemic and will continue to worsen if we do not take steps to finally implement the bipartisan funding and policy solutions passed in 2019 through SB 14. I thank my colleagues for prioritization of SB 157 and look forward to working together to ensure SB 14 is implemented to protect our most vulnerable citizens.”
