CONCORD – On Tuesday, SB 148, an act adopting omnibus legislation relative to vocational and career education, environmental education, and emergency plans for sports injuries, was signed into law. SB 148 includes language relative to career and technical education and language relative to environmental and outdoor education introduced by Senator David Watters (D-Dover).
Senator David Watters (D-Dover) issued the following statement in response:
“SB 148 is a bipartisan bill that puts our students first. By clarifying the language around our CTE programs, we are codifying efforts to help our students enter the workforce. No student should be deterred from CTE programs based on where they live. Additionally, SB 148 adds outdoor recreation and environmental education to the criteria for an adequate education. By adding these topics, we enable the early development of our outdoor recreational workforce while looking at how those careers are essential to a growing economy.”
