CONCORD - Today, on a party-line vote of 13-10, Senate Republicans voted Interim Study on SB 203, Senate Democratic Leader Donna Soucy’s (D-Manchester) bill to incrementally increase the minimum wage as follows:
· From September 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023, $10 per hour.
· From July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, $12 per hour.
· From July 1, 2024, and thereafter, $15 per hour.
After the vote, prime sponsor Senate Democratic Leader Donna Soucy (D-Manchester) issued the following statement:
“I have been fighting this fight for the New Hampshire workforce for over a decade now. But this year feels different. Our employers are struggling with a mass workforce shortage and our low-wage employees, many of whom were on the front lines during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, are still struggling to make ends meet. We are living in a different world than we were even just a year ago, and it is well past time that we acknowledge the very real needs of our constituents. I am extremely disappointed that, once again, my Republican colleagues refused to raise New Hampshire’s minimum wage and do what is right for all Granite Staters.”
