CONCORD – Today, in a vote of 4-1, Republican members of the Executive Council once again voted to reject $27 million in federal funds that would have been used to support the state’s vaccination efforts. The vote comes shortly after an interview with Governor Sununu where he stated that he was optimistic that the contracts would be approved.
Senate Democratic Leader Donna Soucy (D-Manchester) issued the following statement in response:
“There was absolutely no logical reason to reject these funds. Rather than listening to the Attorney General and the Governor, the Republican members of the Executive Council instead chose to listen to the same reckless protestors who shut down their last meeting and threatened the safety of our state employees. I am extremely disappointed that Governor Sununu made no effort prior to today’s meeting to dispel the misinformation that has rooted itself within his party and that New Hampshire’s vaccination and recovery efforts are once again delayed in the name of fantastical extremism.”
