CONCORD – Today, the Joint Legislative Fiscal Committee finally accepted $22.5 million in federal funding from the CDC to bolster state vaccination efforts. This funding had originally been proposed in September, at which point the Committee rejected it down party lines. Since the original rejection, 187 Granite Staters have died from COVID-19.
Fiscal Committee members Senator Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) and Senator Lou D’Allesandro (D-Manchester) issued the following statement in response:
“While we are glad to see this funding finally move forward, it is absolutely appalling that it has taken so long to receive approval. People are dying. Our hospitals are once again reaching capacity. The facts speak for themselves. Today’s vote didn’t happen because it was the right thing to do. It finally happened because Republicans needed to wait until they decided they’d developed enough political cover to finally do the right thing.”
