CONCORD – Today, in a party-line vote, Republican members of the House Election Law Committee voted OTP/A on SB 418, a Republican proposal that risks New Hampshire’s first in the nation primary status and all but guarantees the disenfranchisement of deployed military voters.

After the vote, Senate Democratic Leader Donna Soucy (D-Manchester) issued the following statement:

“There has been widespread opposition to SB 418 since its introduction in the Senate. Between the risks to an individual’s right to privacy, the threat to our first in the nation primary status, and the unconscionable disenfranchisement of our overseas military voters, this bill should not be passed. I am extremely disappointed in the committee’s recommendation, particularly after the testimony provided by Granite State veterans opposing this harmful legislation.
