CONCORD – Today, in their first move as the House majority, House Republicans voted to adopt the rules from the 2017-18 legislative session, thereby eliminating the sexual harassment prevention training instituted last session. This unprecedented vote occurred during Organization Day.
Senate Minority Leader Donna Soucy (D-Manchester) issued the following statement in response:
“Today the New Hampshire Senate displayed the professionalism and bipartisan cooperation that will be needed as we continue to take action as a state to combat the impacts of COVID-19. It is extremely disappointing that in their first move as the majority, House Republicans chose to weaken protections against sexual harassment in a political sideshow by pushing through changes to House Rules. Their action was an insult to the democratic process, particularly when over a quarter of the House, including House minority leadership, was unable to attend due to the pandemic.”
