CONCORD – Today, in a bipartisan vote of 17-4, the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs Committee voted Ought to Pass on SB 404. SB 404, prime sponsored by Senator Becky Whitley (D-Hopkinton) establishes a supplemental nutrition assistance program outreach program. The bill will next go before the full House for a vote.
Prime sponsor Senator Becky Whitley (D-Hopkinton) issued the following statement after the vote:
“New Hampshire’s high cost of living and stagnant income growth continue to exacerbate food insecurity here in the Granite State. SB 404 does more than work to increase SNAP enrollment for eligible families, it creates opportunities for New Hampshire to receive millions of dollars in federal aid to support nutritional aid and keep food on the table. I am grateful to my House colleagues for their bipartisan support and look forward to seeing that support continue on the floor of the House.”
