CONCORD – Today, Republican members of the Joint Legislative Fiscal Committee voted to table $27 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds to fund the state’s Immunization Program. The vote to table this funding will further delay efforts by DHHS to take appropriate public health action to combat COVID-19.
Deputy Senate Democratic Leader Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) issued the following statement in response:
“I am appalled that my colleagues would vote to table $27 million in federal funds that would have been used to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. This money represented a necessary toolkit to help get New Hampshire back to normal. Instead, the discussion was dominated by the spread of false information, continuing the Republican narrative that extremist talking points are more important than public health and safety. I thank my Democratic colleagues for their votes today to protect public health and wish that had been a unanimous priority.”
