CONCORD – Yesterday, the Senate voted to re-refer SB 151, Senator David Watters’ (D-Dover) bill to establish a program for the procurement of renewable energy and the financing of offshore wind energy generation resources in New Hampshire.
After the vote, prime sponsor Senator David Watters (D-Dover) issued the following statement:
“SB 151 is a crucial step forward for renewable energy and New Hampshire’s economy. Since our last vote on this legislation, industry interest in NH has increased dramatically, since we are no longer a state without any real commitment to offshore wind. We must continue the conversation around offshore wind efficiently and with diligence to ensure that the hundreds of millions of investment in ports and manufacturing and workforce development are not greatly reduced, and centered elsewhere. We have the opportunity to create new jobs, promote economic development, and lower energy costs for New Hampshire ratepayers while moving us towards a more sustainable future and I look forward to our continued work towards those goals.”
