CONCORD – Today, during a meeting of the Joint Legislative Fiscal Committee, Commissioner Edelblut continued to perpetuate the myth that the state’s school voucher program, which has already come in 5,000% over budget, will create cost savings for local school districts.
Senator Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) issued the following statement in response to the presentation:
“It worries me that the Commissioner of Education fails to recognize the negative fiscal impact of this school voucher program both to local property taxpayers and to our school districts. I would hope that with his professional background, the Commissioner would recognize the signs of a bad business plan, particularly one that is coming in millions of dollars over budget.”
