CONCORD - Today HB 1639, a bipartisan omnibus health care bill, was delivered to the Secretary of State. It next goes to the governor’s desk where he will have five business days to sign, veto, or allow the bill to become law without his signature.
Senator Tom Sherman (D-Rye) issued the following statement in response:
“We will be navigating the economic and social impacts of the coronavirus pandemic for years to come. The uncertainty and anxiety caused by COVID-19 may very well act as a catalyst for increased reporting of additional crises we continue to face as a state -- such as our opioid epidemic. HB 1639 takes steps to give the state the necessary funding and tools to gain a clearer picture of what works, and how we can expand treatment and recovery options. It looks at our health care system as a whole including the impacts of tick-related illnesses, our dental services, and our “in and out” medical assistance policy. I encourage the governor to support this bipartisan legislation and look forward to HB 1639 becoming law.”
