CONCORD - Today, HB 1240 was signed into law. As amended, HB 1240 incorporates text from HB 1599, creating a special marriage officiant license, and HB 1491 as amended by the Senate, updating licensing and policy and fees.
Senator Martha Hennessey (D-Hanover) and Senator Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) issued the following statements in response:
“The safety of our students is now, and always will be, a bipartisan priority,” stated Senator Martha Hennessey (D-Hanover). “When a teacher or a coach engages in sexual contact with a student, that is a gross misuse of power. I am proud of the work done this session not only to close the loophole used by Howie Leung to abuse his position of authority, but to create a funding avenue for domestic violence programs.”
Senator Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua) added, “This legislation includes a critical measure regarding pharmacy licensing fees that will prevent a $700,000 negative budget impact and increase administrative efficiency. I am grateful to my Senate colleagues for their work on this significant cost saving measure.”
