CONCORD - Today, SB 124, relative to the minimum electric renewable portfolio standards, was delivered to the Secretary of State. It next goes to the governor’s desk where he will have five business days to sign, veto, or allow the bill to become law without his signature.
Senator Martha Fuller Clark (D-Portsmouth) issued the following statement in response:
“In 2018 The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released a report that gave the world twelve years to make critical changes to avoid a climate disaster. The main mechanism for New Hampshire to reduce our carbon emissions and combat the impending crisis is through the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS). SB 124 extends our bipartisan RPS and more than doubles renewable energy by 2040 -- which is critical to combatting the climate crisis, reducing electric bills, and advancing clean energy jobs here in New Hampshire. Last year New Hampshire was the only state in New England to lose solar jobs. SB 124 will ensure that the clean energy industry in New Hampshire not only keeps pace with the rest of New England but that no jobs are left on the table as we face record unemployment numbers.”
