CONCORD - Today, the first portion of the Granite Promise Plan, HB 1247, was delivered to the Secretary of State. It next goes to the governor’s desk where he will have five business days to sign, veto, or allow the bill to become law without his signature. HB 1247 creates modest protections for renters under threat of eviction for nonpayment of rent and for homeowners under threat of foreclosure.
Senate Majority Leader Dan Feltes (D-Concord) issued the following statement in response:
“New Hampshire families are hurting. The expiration of the moratorium on evictions for nonpayment of rent and foreclosures means that working families financially devastated by the coronavirus pandemic are now in danger of losing their homes. The common sense measures enacted in HB 1247 could help prevent a housing crisis and keep people safe in their homes. This relief is needed now and I urge the governor to sign HB 1247 into law.”
