CONCORD - Today, the Senate Education and Workforce Development Committee passed an omnibus amendment to HB 1582 sponsored by Senator Jon Morgan (D-Brentwood) that creates programs designed to aid veterans' access to employment, entrepreneurship, housing, health care, and educational assistance.
After the committee vote, the amendment’s sponsor Senator Jon Morgan (D-Brentwood) issued the following statement:
“New Hampshire is home to over 100,000 veterans whose contributions to their state and country deserve to be recognized and supported. This amendment cements our current protections for our growing community for active duty, reserves, and other veterans living and working in the Granite State. Through this legislation, we assist our veterans to start businesses, find jobs and apprenticeships matching their skillset, obtain physical and mental health services, prevent suicide, achieve license and certification reciprocation, access educational opportunities for themselves and their families, and we continue the fight to end veteran homelessness.
Supporting New Hampshire’s veterans has been a bipartisan priority this session and I am grateful to my Senate colleagues for their continued support of these critical programs.”
