CONCORD - Today, the Senate passed SB 685-FN. SB 685-FN establishes a wholesale importation program for prescription drugs from Canada by or on behalf of the state. Vermont, Maine, Colorado and Florida have already passed similar legislation to import drugs from Canada.
After the vote, prime sponsor Senate Majority Leader Dan Feltes (D-Concord) issued the following statement:
“New Hampshire has the highest health care costs in the country, including premiums, copayments and deductibles. These skyrocketing prices are crushing Granite State families. Maine and Vermont recently adopted legislation to permit the importation of less expensive prescription drugs from Canada; New Hampshire consumers should not be left behind when a common sense solution is readily available.”
