CONCORD - Today, Senator Jay Kahn’s (D-Keene) bill, SB 684-FN, to fix the federal reimbursement problem created by emergency rules for the Medicaid to Schools program instituted by Governor Sununu’s administration was signed into law. SB 684-FN reconnects school district services with federal reimbursement by qualifying school staff through health related professional licensure, removing doubts about future funding.
Following the bill’s passage, prime sponsor Senator Jay Kahn (D-Keene) issued this statement:
“The streamlined passage of this bill was critical in ensuring our schools are able to continue providing crucial medically-related services including psychological counseling, mental health counseling, speech language pathology, and other specialized care to our students. I applaud my colleagues in the Legislature, the professional boards, and state agencies for their quick work and dedication to giving local school districts and professionals clear direction on reimbursement within this fiscal year.”
