CONCORD - Today, the Senate rejected a radical Republican amendment to SB 302 which would have allowed guns in schools. The amendment, presented by Senator Bob Giuda (R-Warren), is the latest in a series of legislation to allow guns in schools and was rejected in a vote of 13-10.
After the vote, Senate Majority Leader Dan Feltes (D-Concord) issued the following statement:
“Thankfully the Senate rejected this radical attempt to put guns in schools and override local control. When Governor Sununu vetoed gun free schools in 2019 it showed New Hampshire that his administration is more concerned about the gun lobby than the safety of our children, our teachers, and our communities. I thank my colleagues for rejecting this amendment and look forward to our continued efforts to protect our students.”
