CONCORD - Yesterday, the Trump administration announced their intention to invite states to convert Medicaid into a block grant, a long term conservative priority which gives every state Medicaid director the option of trading in a program that adjusts to match the number of people requiring coverage for a fixed federal payment. The block grants present high risks that could leave financial gaps should there be an economic swing.
Following the announcement, Senator Cindy Rosenwald (D- Nashua) issued this statement:
“Converting to a Medicaid block grant is wrong for New Hampshire. It is bad for Granite Staters’ access to healthcare and bad for the taxpayers who will have to pick up the tab. I urge Governor Sununu to look out for the best interests of New Hampshire and not to convert our Medicaid funding.”
