CONCORD—Today, the New Hampshire House of Representatives voted 209-139 in favor of SB 10, to re-establish and raise New Hampshire’s minimum wage. SB 10 raises the minimum wage to $10 per hour in 2020 and $12 per hour in 2022.
Prime Sponsor Senator Donna Soucy (D-Manchester) released the following statement after the vote
“New Hampshire values work; we should do all we can to make sure people working full time earn enough to support themselves and their families. Today’s House vote to re-establish and raise the minimum wage is a huge step forward for our state’s workforce that will support working families and continue growing our economy.
Regardless of political party, we should all agree New Hampshire is better equipped to make economic decisions that impact our workers and businesses than politicians in Washington, D.C. Unfortunately, Granite State workers are struggling to make ends meet because we ceded that authority on minimum wage a decade ago. SB 10 is my seventh minimum wage bill—I’m grateful for the strong support from my colleagues thus far and look forward to continuing to shepherd this bill through the legislative process and onto Governor Sununu’s desk because it’s far past time to raise New Hampshire’s minimum wage.”
