CONCORD—Today, the New Hampshire House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee voted 11-8 in support of SB 4, relative to the group and individual health insurance market. This legislation would codify into state law protections for people with preexisting conditions and essential health benefits.
After the vote, prime sponsor Senator Dan Feltes (D-Concord) released the following statement:
“I applaud today’s House committee vote in support of SB 4, which codifies into state law protections for people with pre-existing conditions and essential health benefits, including maternity and newborn care, mental health and substance use disorder services, and prescription drugs. With the Trump administration’s continued efforts to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, it is more important than ever for us to protect access to quality, affordable health care for all Granite Staters. This bill gives New Hampshire citizens the peace of mind that they can get the care they need, when they need it—regardless of what happens at the federal level.”
