NH Senate Ways & Means Committee Unanimously Supports SB 242-FN, the NH “Wayfair” Bill
CONCORD—Today, the Senate Ways and Means Committee held a hearing on SB 242-FN, the so-called “Wayfair” bill, and voted unanimously, 5-0, in support. The measure would require notice and approval of certain actions to commence audits of collection liabilities arising under certain sales and use tax statutes and prohibiting collection liabilities arising under certain sales and use tax statutes and prohibiting New Hampshire remote sellers from disclosing private customer information to foreign taxing authorities in connection with the collection of certain sales and use taxes.
Senate Majority Leader Dan Feltes, a cosponsor of SB 242-FN and member of the Joint Task Force on Wayfair Decision, released the following statement after the hearing:
“Small businesses are the backbone of New Hampshire’s economy—they do not have the time or resources to become tax collectors for other states. As we did in 2018, Senate Democrats stand with our Republican colleagues in this effort to protect small business interests in the Granite State.”
