RELEASE: Sen. Dan Feltes & Sen. Kevin Cavanaugh Issue Statement on Workforce Development and Job
CONCORD- Senator Dan Feltes (D-Concord) and Senator Kevin Cavanaugh (D-Manchester) released the following statements on LSR #2943 relative to workforce development and job training:
“If we don’t want to lose more businesses, then we need to attract, skill-up, and retain the workforce to get the job done. I was surprised my Republican colleagues in the majority blocked jobs legislation last year and now want to only ‘review and evaluate’ it this year, ” said Senator Feltes. “Every past evaluation shows New Hampshire’s public/private job training partnerships are effective. We just need to step up our efforts in order to fill the jobs of today. I am glad to work with Senator Cavanaugh on this legislation and I’m hopeful my Republican colleagues will reconsider blocking jobs legislation once again this year.”
“For blue-collar workers on a second or third career, or kids graduating high school looking to get into a trade, or those workers in recovery, this jobs bill will give them a shot to succeed,” said Senator Cavanaugh. “Each month there are well over 10,000 job openings in New Hampshire, and we need to recruit and skill-up our workforce. Hard-working families expect politicians in Concord to work for them, not sit on our hands, which is why I am proud to work with Sen. Feltes on this jobs bill.”
