Maggie Hassan became the senate majority leader in 2008, during her third term in office. She is a member of the Capital Budget, Commerce, Labor and Consumer Protection, and Finance committees.
Born in Boston, Hassan is an Exeter resident and has been involved in a variety of community and civic activities, including service on the Advisory Committee to the Adequacy in Education and Finance Commission, as a volunteer for Exeter public schools, as a board member of Community Developmental Services and as a board member of the Disabilities Rights Center.
Maggie is married to Thomas E. Hassan, and has two children, Ben and Meg. She is an attorney, and earned her juris doctor from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, and her bachelor’s degree from Brown University in Providence, R.I.
