Senator Amanda Merrill

Deputy Democratic Whip
Serving District 21 since 2008

During her first term in the Senate, Sen. Merrill served on the Education, Election Law and Veterans’ Affairs, Energy, Environment and Economic Development, and Wildlife, Fish and Game and Agriculture committees.

Before joining the State Senate, Sen. Merrill served in the New Hampshire House from 1989 to 1998.

Amanda attended New Hampshire public schools before graduating from the University of New Hampshire and later, from Dartmouth. She taught psychology in the Massachusetts university system and worked as program associate in the undergraduate research program at UNH.

Amanda has served on the Durham Planning Board and the boards of the UNH Alumni Association, the Audubon Society of New Hampshire, and the Granite State Conservation Voters. She also worked as visual arts coordinator for the Mill Pond Center for the Arts.

Amanda has lived in Durham for 30 years with her husband, Ken. They have two children, Anna and Sam, and one grandson.

Represents: Dover, Durham, Epping, Lee, and Rollinsford.
