RELEASE: Senate Democrats’ Statement on Elimination of Federal Home Heating Aid

CONCORD –After today’s budget presentation from the Office of Energy and Planning to the Senate Finance Committee, Senate Finance Committee members Sen. Lou D’Allesandro and Sen. Dan Feltes released the following statement:

“Today, the Senate Finance Committee heard from the Office of Energy and Planning and we learned that President Trump’s budget proposal zero-funds federal home heating aid. This has a direct and disproportionate impact on New Hampshire and will force tens of thousands of hard working families to choose between heating their homes and other necessities like food, medicine, or paying rent.”

“President Trump’s cruel proposal would devastate the ability of 35,000 low to middle income Granite State families to heat their homes, would devastate our economy, and would lead to skyrocketing local property taxes. We condemn this outrageous proposal, urge President Trump to reverse course, and call on Governor Chris Sununu to do the same.”
