Sen. David Watters Comments on Governor Hassan’s Compromise Budget Proposal

Dover, N.H. – Sen. David Watters released the following comments after Governor Hassan’s presented her fiscally responsible compromise budget proposal:

“Governor Hassan’s proposal is fiscally responsible and meets the needs of New Hampshire’s people, businesses, and economy. Passing a responsible budget requires compromise. And while the Governor’s proposal doesn’t contain everything I wish it did, it does address the concerns of both parties.”

“This plan represents a true compromise by including Republicans’ top priority – business tax cuts – while offsetting the tax cuts to preserve our ability to invest in critical economic priorities like combating the heroin crisis, holding down the cost of college tuition, maintaining our roads and bridges, and protecting access to quality, affordable health care.”

“I thank Governor Hassan for her leadership in proposing this plan and I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Senate to pass a responsible, compromise budget when the legislature comes back into session in September.”
